| 8/19/2010 - Ready for more. |
| One preseason game did little to appease the Chargers’ desire for competition. Practice has remained intense this week, Philip Rivers says.
SAN DIEGO – A game against Chicago wasn’t enough to stifle San Diego’s competitive attitude this week, according to quarterback Philip Rivers.
Speaking after one of the hottest days of camp, Rivers raved about the intensity between units this week.
“It’s good competition. Our offense and defense really compete,” Rivers said. “There’s a lot of guys that give each other a handful across the board.
“Who wins and loses goes back and forth, and I think that’s good. There hasn’t been a day where the offense has looked really good and the defense hasn’t which is a good sign.”

| 8/11/2010 - Bolts like options at tight end |
| The acquisition of veteran Randy McMichael and the emergence of Kris Wilson to complement six-time Pro Bowler Antonio Gates give the Chargers a versatile trio that appears extremely difficult to defend.
"I think the key is that you want your tight ends to be a mismatch problem, and Randy, Kris and I are all capable of causing issues in that regard," said Gates, who called this the finest group of tight ends he has played with. Read more... |

Kris Wilson lined up wide right, Randy McMichael tight on the same side and Antonio Gates in the slot on the left. Tailback Ryan Mathews stood a few yards behind Philip Rivers before breaking wide left, emptying the backfield.
The Chargers used three tight ends on just 38 snaps last season, but if training camp is any indication they will use it much more this season. And in varied ways.
“I’m just anxious to see what defenses try to do,” said Gates, who is defended by defenses as a receiver much of the time anyway. Read more... |

| 5/28/2010 - Craving Practice |
| Kris Wilson and a trio of tight end rookies are enjoying some extra practice time in the light of Antonio Gates recovery. “Whenever you have a situation where all the guys at your position aren’t going, there’s two ways you could look at it,” Wilson said. “You could look at it as, ‘Oh, man, I’ve got more work to do,’ or you could look at it as an opportunity to get better.” Coach Turner really likes the way Kris has "worked and the things he’s gotten done, really, since he’s been here."
